Joy Littlejohn was born and raised in Rome, Ga. She was a proud member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority during her college years and shared nearly 60 years of marriage with her late husband, Carlton “Buddy” Littlejohn, until his passing in 2011. They enjoyed traveling together.
During the 1970s, Joy and Buddy owned a fabric store called Rome Fabric. Joy’s love for sewing manifested in beautifully crafted clothes for her daughters as they grew. Beyond her sewing skills, Joy enjoyed reading, cross-stitching and various crafts. Her professional journey led her to Synovus Bank, where she built lasting friendships, culminating in her role as an auditor. In her leisure time, Joy liked line dancing with the Dixie Stompers.
Joy has four kids: Mike (married to Teresa), Terri, Cindy (married to Jim), and Todd (married to Andrea). Her family grew with fi ve grandchildren: Jami (married to Scot), B.J. (married to Brittany), Tyler, Mason (married to Arizla), and Brittany (married to Charlie). The joy kept going with four great-grandkids: Anslee, Nicholas, Elizabeth, and Jack. Joy’s family also includes her three brothers: Jack Jones (married to Jean), Buddy Jones (married to Trena), and Danny Jones (married to Bobye). They all make up Joy’s close and loving family.
